Frequently asked questions
What is a Matomo instance?
One Matomo installation. An instance can contain any number of websites.
How does the trial work?
You get full access to one Matomo instance for 14 days. Afterwards you choose a plan in your account at datastudio.viu.one.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Yes, at any time in your account. Plans are billed monthly with no minimum term.
Where is my data processed?
Report data goes directly from your Matomo API to Google Data Studio. We don’t store or cache it. We store your account, your Matomo URL and your API token in Google Firebase (EU region). Details are in our privacy policy.
What about GDPR?
The connector only transfers what you select in Data Studio. If you avoid dimensions that contain personal data (such as visitor IDs or IP addresses), no personal data leaves your Matomo. For your specific setup, please consult your data protection officer.
Does it work with Matomo Cloud and on-premise Matomo?
Yes, with both — as long as the Matomo API is reachable from the internet.
Does it work with the Matomo WordPress plugin?
No, Matomo installations inside WordPress are not supported.
Does it work with Matomo plugins?
Core reports, goals, e-commerce, custom dimensions and the Custom Reports plugin are supported. If a plugin report doesn’t work, let us know.
Are there limits?
Data Studio accepts about 50 MB per response. See the performance tips.
